Digital Card Game Looks for US Champion

The online digital card game Yu-Gi-Oh! is looking to crown a US champion. 16 of the nation’s best duelists will be pit against each other to decide which five players will travel to Japan to compete against the top players in the world.Yu-Gi-Oh! 7 Trials to Glory World Championship Tournament 2005

“Through this tournament, we are supporting the Yu-Gi-Oh! community by giving the best duelists around the country the opportunity to show off their skills, share in their experiences and prove who will be the ultimate Yu-Gi-Oh! video game champion,” said Geoff Mulligan, chief operating officer of Konami Digital Entertainment America.

The US players will compete June 24 via Yu-Gi-Oh! 7 Trials to Glory World Championship Tournament 2005, currently available for Game Boy Advance. Look here on YW for the winners as this info becomes available.


For 16 lucky Yu-Gi-Oh enthusiasts, it is indeed time to duel.

On Friday June 24, at their American offices in Redwood City, California, Konami Digital Entertainment America will host the U.S. finals of the 2005 Yu-Gi-Oh World Tournament.

Playing the Yu-Gi-Oh 7 Trials To Glory on the Game Boy Advance, 14 contestants who successfully competed in an online trivia contest and two of the top participants from last year’s competition will battle in a bracketed tournament for five spots on the U.S. Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Team. The winners will not only score a trip to Tokyo, Japan, to show off their duellist skills in the finals of the World Championship but also claim a copy of Yu-Gi-Oh! Online (PC), Master Collection set and a limited edition booster pack of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards from Upper Deck and Yu-Gi-Oh! branded merchandise.

The finals of the 2005 Yu-Gi-Oh World Championships will take place in Tokyo, Japan, in August.
