Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME is excited to share that the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) will be returning to Southern California with YCS Pasadena to be held on November 17-18 at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Hundreds of Duelists are expected to be in attendance for the last Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Championship of the year in North America at YCS Pasadena. Duelists can also expect an exciting weekend of competitive Dueling and a bounty of fun public events that also includes the tournament debut of cards from Structure Deck: Zombie Horde and the Hidden Summoners booster set.

Weekend’s Events Include Dragon Duel Tournament for Younger Players

El Segundo, Calif. (October 29, 2018) – SoCal Duelists, it’s time to Duel!  The Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) is headed to the Greater Los Angeles area this November, where hundreds of Duelists are expected to attend the last Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Championship of the year in North America.  Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI) is excited to welcome Duelists near and far to the Pasadena Convention Center November 17 – 18 for an exciting weekend of competitive Dueling and a bounty of fun public events that also includes the tournament debut of cards from Structure Deck: Zombie Horde and the Hidden Summoners booster set.

Southern California is one of the world’s biggest epicenters of Dueling action and home to some of the biggest record-breaking tournaments of all time!  Now, the next chapter of the Soul Fusion season will be written in Pasadena.  SoCal may be home to countless Champions, but the lure of competition is sure to draw veterans and up-and-comers from all corners of the globe.

Of course, the prizes are certainly part of the appeal.

The glory of winning a Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series is just the beginning: the brave few Duelists left standing at the end of this two-day test of wit and mettle will take home lavish rewards, including a copy of the uber-exclusive Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon! A re-envisioned homage to one of Dueling’s most revered monsters, the latest YCS Prize Card is only available to top finishers at YCS events and has only been offered at a handful of Championships so far.  Runners-up at YCS Pasadena will win Super Rare copies, while the supreme victor of the weekend will become the owner of a coveted Ultra Rare.

The Champion in the YCS Pasadena main event will also receive paid travel and accommodations to their 2019 World Championship Qualifier (WCQ), where they’ll compete as a VIP contender. Each Finalist will take home an exclusive YCS-branded premium Messenger Bag, and all Duelists in the Top 8 will win PlayStation®4 gaming systems.

Each Top 32 finisher will celebrate their achievement with an exclusive YCS Top Cut Game Mat featuring Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon, and they’ll earn World Qualifying Points, Ultimate Duelist Series Points, and invitations to their 2019 WCQs.

Pre-registration for YCS Pasadena will open from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday, November 16 at the Pasadena Convention Center.  All Duelists who pre-register and submit their valid Deck list on Friday will randomly receive one of the Millennium Dice, only available during pre-registration at YCS events.

Registration will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday November 17, continuing to 9:45 a.m, with Round 1 beginning promptly at 10 a.m. All Duelists will receive five booster packs of Soul Fusion upon registering.  While supplies last, attendees can also get a “Kuriboh Headband” when registering.  The YCS Pasadena main event will be played in the Constructed Advanced Format. For Duelists born 2006 or later, two Dragon Duel tournaments will be offered at YCS Pasadena on Saturday November 17 and Sunday November 18. These tournaments will be played in the sealed format using Battle Pack: Epic Dawn, wherein each Duelist is given ten sealed Battle Packs to build their Deck.  Each Dragon Duel tournament awards invitations to the 2019 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier based on attendance.

The winning Dragon Duelist from Saturday will compete against Sunday’s Dragon Duel winner in a best-of-3 match, played with their own Advanced Format Constructed Deck.  The winner will be awarded a Dragon Duel Championship Trophy, Super Rare set of the Darklords YCS Prize Cards and will earn the title of YCS Pasadena Dragon Duel Champion! 

A wide range of Public Events will be offered all weekend long, including 2019 Regional Qualifiers; Ultimate Duelist Series Qualifiers; 3 vs. 3 Team Tournaments; two ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! events; plus Win-A-Mat, Sealed Structure Deck, Sealed Starter Deck, Battle City, Yu-Gi-Oh! School Tournament Series, Duelist League, Speed Dueling, and Duel Links tournaments. YCS Pasadena will also host a special Charity Tournament to benefit kids in need this holiday season. By donating a sealed, unwrapped toy valued at least $25, Duelists will be able to compete for a slew of popular tournament packs; they may event come face-to-face with a Bounty Duelist from KONAMI!

Players that make the Top Cut at the YCS will also be awarded World Qualifying Points based on standings.
