An Exciting New Year Begins for the Yu-gi-oh! Trading Card Game!
KONAMI is kicking off 2026 with a busy slate for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG (Trading Card Game), combining new sealed products with high-profile Organized Play. For Nintendo fans who keep an eye on the TCG while also playing Yu-Gi-Oh titles on Switch, these early-2026 releases are likely to shape deckbuilding conversations across both tabletop and digital communities.
The headline items include THE CHRONICLES DECK: Spirit Charmers (All-Foil Edition), the new core booster Burst Protocol, and the anime-inspired Maze of Muertos. Competitive players also have multiple dates to circle, including a Remote Duel YCS and the milestone 300th Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series.
January 23: THE CHRONICLES DECK: Spirit Charmers (All-Foil Edition)
KONAMI’s first major Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG release of 2026 is THE CHRONICLES DECK: Spirit Charmers (All-Foil Edition), launching January 23, 2026. Like October’s CHRONICLES DECK: The Fallen & The Virtuous, this deck is tied to the promotional short anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! CARD GAME THE CHRONICLES, which spotlights monster stories from the TCG.
This Spirit Charmers deck contains 51 cards, and KONAMI says every card is foil. It includes two brand-new cards never released before and four new variant arts, making it a notable pickup for collectors and Charmers fans.
Key details for THE CHRONICLES DECK: Spirit Charmers (All-Foil Edition):
- Release date: January 23, 2026
- MSRP: $19.99 per deck
- Rarity breakdown: 50 Ultra Rares in the Main + Extra Deck combined
- 51st card: a repeat copy of 1 of 6 possible Ultra Rares
- Upgrade chance: the 51st card is “usually” a Secret Rare, with a small chance to be Starlight Rare
January 31–February 1: Latin America Remote Duel YCS returns
One week after the Spirit Charmers deck release, KONAMI will run the Latin America Remote Duel Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series on January 31 and February 1. The event takes place over Discord, but KONAMI says players can still expect many of the familiar YCS components, including prizing, public events, and intense competition.
For duelists who can’t travel, Remote Duel YCS events remain one of the most accessible ways to compete at a high level. With new product releases landing on both sides of the event, players will likely be testing new tech choices right up to tournament weekend.
February 6: Burst Protocol core booster adds new support and Forbidden Crown
Next up is Burst Protocol, a new core booster set arriving February 6, 2026. KONAMI says Burst Protocol adds support to multiple popular themes, including Rokket, Darklord, Rescue-ACE, and Fur Hire, and it also introduces an entirely new World Premiere theme for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG.
Burst Protocol also introduces Forbidden Crown, a Quick-Play Spell designed with competitive play in mind. KONAMI highlights that opponents can’t activate monster effects in response to its activation, and it applies multiple possible restrictions and protections to a chosen monster.
Burst Protocol product details:
- Release date: February 6, 2026
- MSRP: $4.49 per booster pack
- Total cards: 100 new cards
- Rarities: 10 Secret Rares, 14 Ultra Rares, 26 Super Rares, 50 Commons
- Starlight Rares: 25 cards also available as Starlight Rares
February 14–15: The 300th YCS spans three global locations
KONAMI is marking a major milestone with the 300th Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series, set for February 14 and 15. Instead of one venue, the 300th YCS will run as three tournaments across:
- Dortmund, Germany
- Richmond, Virginia
- Guadalajara, Mexico
KONAMI says special prizes will be available, including a commemorative participation game mat and dice, plus 300th YCS card sleeves for Top 32 duelists. With Spirit Charmers and Burst Protocol releasing shortly beforehand, the early-2026 format could develop quickly as players optimize lists for this landmark weekend.
February 20: Maze of Muertos brings anime-inspired Zombies and spooky staples
Closing out February is Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Maze of Muertos, launching February 20, 2026 at $4.49 per pack. KONAMI frames it as a spooky, anime-inspired set featuring cards connected to Bonz from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series, including new Zombie-focused tools and a modernized spin on classic themes like Call of the Haunted and Pumpking the King of Ghosts.
Each Maze of Muertos pack includes 7 cards total:
- 1 Foil card
- 6 Rare cards
KONAMI also teases a broader spread of manga/anime-inspired additions, including names like Darkuriboh, Dark Magician of Destruction, Timaeus the United Magical Dragon, Illusion Gate, and Chronicle Sorceress, plus new Xyz Monsters for Extra Deck upgrades.
What’s next: Organized Play and Yu-Gi-Oh! Genesys format
KONAMI also pointed players toward its Organized Play updates, including Yu-Gi-Oh! Genesys, a newer tournament format that uses a point system for deck-building. For official event information and program details, KONAMI directs duelists to: www.yugioh-card.com/en/events.
