The new series is set a generation in the future and appeals to a younger audience than Yu-Gi-Oh!, chronicling the lives of students at the Duel Academy. 4Kids Entertainment’s chairman and CEO Al Kahn noted, “Yu-Gi-Oh! GX will bring a new, brighter look that should resonate with the younger viewers. It’s a great extension for the franchise and we’re confident that fans of the original series will fall in love with GX as much as first time viewers will.”
Terry Kalagian, the VP of acquisitions and co-productions for Cartoon Network, referred to Yu-Gi-Oh! GX as “an awesome new series,” adding, “Yu-Gi-Oh! has been a top-rated series on our network and we are excited to have GX premiere on Cartoon Network.”
